The 2026 Mid-Year Cutting Horse Digital Sale closed on July 28th with continued confidence from buyers, posting a 12% increase in overall average over last year’s sale and reinforcing the demand for proven bloodlines offered through Western Bloodstock’s digital marketplace.
More than 150 buyers registered to participate, with purchases made across Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. Buyer registrations also extended into Canada and Mexico, reflecting the reach of a marketplace that continues to connect horsemen well beyond geographic boundaries.
Leading the sale at $88,000 was Lot 126, Reysurgence, a 2025 red roan stallion by Metallic Cat and out of Dual Rey mare, Sofie Rey. Consigned by Ten/27 Ranch LLC, the yearling was purchased by Cole Tachdjian of Rocking R Ranch in Palmer, Texas.
Rockin R Ranch resident trainer Scott Amos said the program’s familiarity with the family played a significant role in the purchase.
“We’re riding a half brother now, and we’ve really liked him,” Amos said. “Cole and I went to look at this colt, and he had the look and the eye appeal we were hoping to see. We know the cross works, and we felt like he was worth taking a run at. He’s got the potential to be a special horse, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him.”
The colt embodies a nick that has become well established within the cutting industry. Metallic Cat crossed on daughters of Dual Rey has repeatedly produced performers at the highest levels of the sport, and Reysurgence carries the added influence of a mare whose impact has continued to grow with each succeeding foal.
A performer in her own right with earnings approaching $150,000, Sofie Rey has since established herself as a proven producer, with more than $1.1 million in offspring earnings. Her produce record is anchored by standouts including Sanctus ($377,530), Hot Night Roll ($168,723), and Konna ($148,394), giving the year’s high seller both a distinguished maternal foundation and one of the industry’s most influential sire lines.
Strength was not confined to the top of the market. The sale’s five highest-selling lots averaged $47,000, illustrating sustained demand for individuals backed by accomplished performance records, established female families, and pedigrees that have consistently proven themselves in the show pen.
The Mid-Year Cutting Horse Digital Sale has continued to establish its place on the industry’s calendar by bringing together an offering of performance horses and prospects within an accessible digital format, allowing buyers to evaluate and bid from wherever they are while maintaining the same emphasis on quality that has long defined the Western Bloodstock name.
Attention now turns to the fall sale season. The next opportunity arrives with the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, where consignments close August 20th ahead of the October 23rd & 24th sale dates. From there, attention shifts to Fort Worth, as the September 15th consignment deadline for the NCHA Futurity Sales marks the beginning of preparations for the most influential sale on the cutting horse calendar.
