In the sport of cutting, some horses stand apart not just for their own brilliance, but for the way their stories weave together. Twice In Santiago and All Spice are two such mares. Both daughters of Once In A Blu Boon, both piloted to success by Adan Banuelos, and both crowned NCHA Horse of the Year in consecutive seasons, they carved their names into history back-to-back.
In 2019, Twice In Santiago announced herself as the NCHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion. She followed with a 2020 campaign that earned NCHA Horse of the Year, stacking major finals and top placings, including the Open Derby Reserve Championship. One season later the spotlight shifted to All Spice. She won the 2020 NCHA Open Futurity and then marched through 2021 to Horse of the Year, a career that also put her in the Hall of Fame.

Her talent was recognized as exceptional by those who knew her best. Banuelos told Quarter Horse News, “She’s a big strong, smart mare; very smart about a cow and she can do it all,” later telling The Cowboy Channel her way of moving was “the smoothest thing ever.” Royce Stallcup, in the same Cowboy Channel interview, added: “She’s so cow smart and she’s so talented.”
