Preferred Breeders Sale Session I

High energy and enthusiasm continued on Thursday, December 7, as Day Four of Western Bloodstock’s 2023 NCHA Futurity Sales continued with Session 1 of the Preferred Breeders Sale and the Rocking P Ranch Production Sale.

Ninety percent (90%) of the 157 horses that passed through the ring sold for an average of $36,124, with seven selling for $100,000 or more.

Reyn In On The Boon, a bay yearling filly by Badboonarising brought the day’s top price of $135,000. Consigned by Rocking P Ranch and purchased by Michael Johnson, Huntsville, Tex., Reyn In On The Boon is out of the Dual Smart Rey daughter Carolena Reyn LTE $275,587, whose oldest foal is a 3-year-old. Second dam Carolena Moon, by Peptoboonsmal, has produced 22 earners of $1,238,381.

Michael Johnson also purchased the 2-year-old Badboonarising filly Dare To Say from Alan Chappell on Monday, December 4. Dare To Say, at $190,000, was one of 49 horses that sold for $100,000 or more during the 2023 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sales Sessions.

Reyn In On The Boon is a full sister to yearling red roan stallion Neonn Boon, who sold to Lew Hall, Lakeland, Fla., for $150,000 on Wednesday, December 6, in The Evening Sale. Neonn Boon was consigned by Ten/27 Ranch.

Sunny Paige, a red roan yearling filly sired by Metallics MVP and consigned by Billy Wolf, sold to Rej Hintze, Salt Lake City, Utah, for $120,000. Out of Never Reylinquish LTE $84,709, by Dual Rey, Sunny Paige has 15 half-siblings who have earned a total of $554,296.

Rej Hintze/Rocken H Cutting Horses was consignor of 2-year-old Shes A Little Freak, by Badboonarising, the high-seller at $300,000 to David Levisay, in Session I of the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sales.

Paradox Rising, a yearling Badboonarising filly consigned by Drs. Mike and Sue Christensen, sold for $112,000 to Travis David, Houma, La. Out of Thimblerey LTE $47,757, by Dual Rey, Paradox Rising is a half or three-quarter sister to 11 earners of $710,031, including Paradox Cat LTE $333,701, by High Brow Cat; Paradox Metallica LTE $166,675, by Metallic Cat; and Paradox Blue Rey LTE $101,601, by Once In A Blu Boon.

Whistle At Er, sired by Metallic Rebel and consigned by Jeremy Barwick, sold to Ty Smith, Whiteboro, Tex., for $108,000. The red roan yearling filly is out of the Dual Rey daughter Reys Desire $409,603, champion of the 2010 NCHA Open Super Stakes and dam of earners of $763,916, including Mr Luckys LTE $130,201, by High Brow Cat; Metallic Hill LTE $120,711, by Metallic Cat; and Desires Time LTE $96,904, by One Time Pepto.

Whistle At Er’s full sister, red roan yearling Desire A Vette, consigned by Rocking P Ranch, sold on Thursday, as well, and brought $100,000 from Adan Banuelos, Weatherford, Tex.
